Program / Department Summary
Mercy Corps’ Crisis Analysis teams aggregate and analyze data to improve decision making and access in complex crises. The team’s support our programming in complex crises across the globe. The teams directly contribute to data-driven decision making by layering information from primary sources, open sources and responders’ programmatic data, where it is analyzed by subject matter experts and data scientists. This analysis is grounded in Mercy Corps’ status as an operational NGO, keeping our products constructive and relevant.
Crisis Analysis has a strong presence in the MENA and Europe region, operating in several crisis and conflict settings. In addition to several country focused teams, Mercy Corps is expanding its regional Crisis Analysis capacity significantly over the course of 2024, to cover cross-cutting political, conflict, climate and economic dynamics.
As part of this expansion Mercy Corps is seeking to recruit a program support officer to support Crisis Analysis teams around the region, as well as the regional Crisis Analysis.
General Position Summary
The program support officer provides administrative and organizational support to Crisis Analysis teams across the region to support the growth and implementation of high-quality and impactful Crisis Analysis programming. This support also extends to the Crisis Analysis teams themselves, supporting their compliance with Mercy Corps policies and procedures. They will play a key role in maintaining and improving analytical standards within the teams, and improving processes and administrative functions for a growing team across MENA and Europe
Essential Job Responsibilities
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Ensure necessary documentation has been submitted to relevant people; support new hires/consultants/interns/etc.
Manage consultant contracts for CA teams across the region, including supporting new contracts, extensions, and consultancy payments.
Support CA travel administration, world closely with finance officers at regional and country level to support financial management of CA work across the region.
Support organization of internal and external events (such as MENA/Europe CA meetings and events, conferences, trainings, donor meetings, etc).
GRANT ADMINISTRATION:and MANAGEMENT
For Regional CA and relevant country-level CA teams, complete administrative tasks such as maintaining required documentation, as per the Program File, and knowledge management of grants, copy-edit support of reports, etc.
Support CA teams in drafting donors reports and generating lessons learnt, success stories and other impactful pieces relevant to donors and external stakeholders.
PROPOSAL and NEW BUSINESS COORDINATION:
Provide administrative support for proposal development such as drafting Past Performance Reports/capacity statements/or other required documents, copy-editing, and final compilation for submission.
Tracking of funding opportunities relevant to Crisis Analysis in MENA/Europe
ANALYTICAL SUPPORT:
Provide surge support to MENA/Europe CA team and country-level CA teams as requested, including conducting research, managing data, contributing analysis and preparing products for publication.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT:
Maintain up to date product and grant information in Mercy Corps’ online knowledge management tools.

Accountability
Reports Directly To: Deputy Regional Director MENA/Europe
Works Directly With: Mercy Corps regional team, Regional Crisis Analysis Advisor, Regional Quantitative Analysis specialist, Crisis Analysis team leads across MENA/Europe.
Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.
Knowledge and Experience
BA/S in International Development or related fields are preferred.
1-3year of demonstrated experience in providing administrative/coordination support.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues from various backgrounds and cultures.
Proficiency with MS Office software required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Prior NGO or international development experience preferred.
Knowledge and interest in conflict/crisis analysis is beneficial.
Knowledge of Arabic is beneficial. English fluency is required.
